World War II eraAfter the movie Dumbo came out in theatres, the world soon went into World War II. Disney created instructional videos, morale shorts, and humorous films for the U.S. Army and the Navy Bureau of Aeronautics during the war. Although these films didn't generate any money, Disney himself said "The insignia meant a lot to the men who were fighting...I had to do it...I owed it to them." By the 1940s, Disney had recovered enough money to start up again with Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. Disney also started on the creation of Cinderella which became the most successful film after Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. After the war, Mickey's popularity faded due the rising popularity of Bugs Bunny. During the war, Disney not only provided hope for the soldiers but also made many wonderful films, as well.
